BLOSSOM HILL BRIGADE IN UGLY SCENES AT KWIK CRICKET

Head of Security John Stockbridge has moved quickly to allay concerns over
the behaviour of Abberton’s rowdiest section of fans following some unedifying
scenes at the recent Kwik Cricket matches against Boxted at The Brow.
More notorious even than England’s Barmy Army, the Blossom Hill Brigade have had a quiet summer until now, but exploded into life towards the end of the final match when the effects of a hard day’s drinking seemed to kick-in. Drinks were spilt, bottles smashed and even the medals put aside for the winning children were tampered with in an unsavoury fashion. "It was terrifying" said a source who wished to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals from the Brigade. "Ray Clay must be twitching in his grave to see such behaviour in the Ray Clay Family Enclosure." Our witness was forced to concede however that there was no problem with bad language as "everything was too slurred to make it recognisable".
There are now calls for the veteran Stockbridge (70), to launch a formal investigation into the events of Friday night, but he is faced with two problems. The first is that "no one could see who they were because their faces were hidden behind an enormous pile of wine bottles and shots glasses, and I wasn't exactly sober myself."
Stockbridge, pictured right, at the scene of the incident, refused to go into more details on the second reason, but it is understood that he is being leaned on heavily by heavy Treasurer John Everett to do nothing as the Brigade are the bar’s best customers and any ban could have disastrous effects on the till takings and possibly see the club go into administration.
No members of the Blossom Hill Brigade were available for comment today, but one of their children told us "If you thought that was bad, you should see them on holiday on the Costa Nottalotta at Happy Hour". Now that’s a very scary thought indeed!
