Another valuable acquisition from Birch & Layer Breton, he was for several years the mainstay in the bowling department when he won the Best Bowler award on four occasions. His consistent line and length has brought him many victims and this count would have been higher if the wicket-keepers had had the gumption to stand up to him!

He is a somewhat unwilling tail end batsman who looks far better on occasions that his statistics suggest.
