Lesson 1: The Beaching
A fielding technique designed and perfected by our mentor Daniel 'Friar Tuck' Woodrow which, if used cunningly, can save considerable energy during a game leaving you in peak condition for your ultimate cricketing goal, the attack of the tea table!
When the ball is hit towards you and it is evident that it will pass, fling yourself groundwards in a gross bellyflop. This will render you inacapable of chasing the ball to the boundary and some other less alert fieldsman will have to do the honours.
Simple but dastardly effective. However, be warned, your captain may not be too impressed!
Coach Woodrow demonstrates the art of 'beaching' to his enthusiastic Thursday night class who seem to have sussed out the technique
