A decent judge of a run who will always score his runs at a reasonable tempo, he is also a keen fieldsman.

His right arm medium pacers tend to skid through and, on a damp wicket, he is an especially difficult proposition.

Struggles to remain fit for more than a fortnight although he steadfastly denies being as old as either Paget or Gallant.
