It didn't take long for many at the club to spot that Tom Sawdon had special skills in the eating department. Here our young tea champion assesses the quality of what has been on offer at our opponents' tables. There is little doubt that he is highly qualified for the job; he certainly ensures that he samples everything available and isn't shy about the quantities either!

Sunday 26 July - Bocking

The tea was poor in quantity, however the warm cocktail sausages were an inspiration along with the chicken nuggets! The tuna was bitter and the cheese and onion was sharp! The juice was absolutely sublime. 6/10

Saturday 1 August - Witham

The tea today was of a very high standard! It included warm potato wedges, warm pizza, REAL strawberries, half sandwiches and other bits 'n' bobs including SAUSAGES, tortilla crisps, scones and biccies! I myself found this tea pleasing...the juice however was a let down...rather weak in flavour! The presentation of the tea was of a high standard and the young filly serving it was of my high standard. Very good quantity as well. 9/10

Sunday 2 August - Colchester & East Essex

I found the tea at Colchester deliciously scrumtious. The quantity was worth around a 9 out of 10, the food itself was worth 9 or 10 out of 10 because there was pizza, marinated chicken, cakes, sausage rolls, sausages and wheelbarrows of wedges. this is the sort of tea which makes me remember why I play cricket. The juice...mmm not amazing but I believe the ice cream made up for this. 9.5/10

Saturday 8 August - Copdock & OIs

Today I returned to the land of education for myself and, instead of a hot dinner, we had a very doughy and pastry filled tea. There were sandwiches, with weird fillings such as ham and coleslaw or cheese and coleslaw, along with sausage rolls, little pastry cheese things that looked like sausage rolls and small cakey sort of things. There was pineapple which I tried, but it didn't taste too good. The quantity was average-good. The juice started well after 15 overs with both jugs being cold and then at 30 overs was warm which made rapid Andy Caddick feel ever so ill during his 16 over spell. 7/10

Saturday 15 August - Hadleigh

The tea this Saturday was very nice, there was plenty of variation with cocktail sausages, sausage rolls, cakes, large sandwiches, melon etc. The food was the same types of foods but ther was a lot of it. Skipper Mike Abrey grabbed his 6 sandwiches, 10 cocktail sausages and 6 cakes after working up a huge sweat after umpiring AND scoring AND his whole 4 runs....or not as the case may be. Juice was of a great rich flavoured standard and lovely and fresh. 8/10

Sunday 16 August - Galleywood

Galleywood had a lovely tea which floats my boat. It included pate with tomato and cucumber on sliced French bread. The tea also had chicken tikka sandwiches that pleased me and my tummy. There was a lovely selection of fruit as well as sausages and sausage rolls. There were lovely chicken wings there, cold, but they were there. Nothing spectacular that stands out. Juice was mediocre.  7/10
